Instructor
Mitch Wohlgemuth has been instructing CHL classes and Basic Firearms Instruction classes for a few years now. Prior to becoming an instructor, Mitch was a manager, teaching employees and owners of small businesses how to become successful. His talents bring a comfortable and casual atmosphere to the classroom, allowing students to feel "at ease". It does not matter if there is one student or 50 students, the information is presented so that everyone will understand and learn.
Where we teach
Our CHL class and Basic Firearms Instruction class is held at our home in McKinney, TX - for a class size from 1 to 10. If we have more students, an alternate location may be used, such as a hotel or restaurant with a meeting room. If the class is over 15 students, we may bring in a second instructor to assist us. We shoot at either a private outdoor range in Blue Ridge (Northeast of McKinney), weather permitting, or at an indoor range in Sherman.
Are private classes available at my location
If you wish to attend a private class, or a class at your location, we can arrange it. Contact Us to discuss the terms and time.
When is a class available
We will hold a class for 1 student or 50 students. Our class size, on average, is 4 students. We will also hold a class any day of the week.
Why a Texas CHL
There are opportunities to obtain a CHL from other States that are recognized by Texas for less money. However, how will you explain to a judge or jury (if involved in the use or show of deadly force) that you went with the cheaper license that may not have required you to learn Texas laws and shoot a proficiency course? Also, how will you explain to a peace officer, if pulled over, that you reside in Texas, but carry an out-of-state concealed handgun license? All I can say is GOOD LUCK! We only instruct students that wish to obtain a Texas CHL.
What is the cost
We charge $80 for a new CHL license and $60 for a renewal CHL license class - per person. Then you must send payment to the State. The State fee is in addition to the class fee. Our Basic Firearms Instruction class is $120 per person.
What to bring to the CHL class
Drivers License, CHL (if a renewal), firearm (38 cal. or larger), at least 50 rounds on ammo, eye protection, ear protection, cash to pay for the class, snacks and drinks if you like - and an open mind! Note: If you qualify with a revolver, you can only carry a revolver. If you qualify with a semi-auto, you can carry either a revolver or a semi-auto.
What if I do not pass
We have a "No pass, no pay" policy. If you do not pass the written exam or the shooting proficiency course after 3 attempts, we will refund your money for the class.
However, if you must be removed from class for being disruptive or unsafe, NO REFUND will be given. If your actions warrant criminal charges, the local police will be contacted and charges filed. We make every attempt to keep our students and staff safe, along with persons and property, when shooting.
